Avéli Cellulite Treatment Topics

Say Goodbye to Persistent Cellulite

Cellulite is a common concern for individuals, even those who follow a healthy diet and exercise program and have a healthy BMI. Cellulite comes from fibrous, connective cords under the skin that pull downward toward the muscle below, causing unwanted dimples and impacting your sense of self-confidence. While there isn’t a topical treatment that can effectively address these cords, Dr. Shermak and her team are proud to be offering the Avéli cellulite treatment at their Baltimore office. This minimally invasive treatment is highly effective, and can help you regain your confidence and youthful looks in equal measure. Ready to learn more? Reach out to Dr. Shermak in Baltimore and speak with a member of her team to set up your initial consultation today.

What Is Avéli?

Avéli is a minimally invasive, FDA-approved treatment for addressing cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. The Avéli device is used to identify and release each fibrous cord (called septae) that causes the cellulite dimples, eliminating their grip on the skin until the skin is smooth again.

The Avéli treatment takes about one hour to complete, requires little downtime, leaves the skin smoother, and reduces the presence of cellulite with long-term results.

Who Is a Candidate for an Avéli Treatment?

Ideal candidates for Avéli are individuals who have cellulite in the buttocks or thighs. Avéli is not a treatment for skin laxity or fat pockets. Dr. Shermak will meet with you in consultation prior to the procedure.

You’ll likely be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Are in good health
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or less
  • Are not pregnant
  • Are between the ages of 21 and 60
  • Have cellulite dimples in the buttocks and thighs

The Benefits of Avéli

When you visit Dr. Shermak for your informative consultation, she’ll help you explore the many benefits that come along with the Avéli cellulite treatment.

Avéli provides a number of exciting benefits for patients who want to finally be rid of cellulite, including the following:

  • A minimally-invasive treatment
  • Reduced appearance of cellulite on the buttocks and thighs
  • Smoother the skin
  • Long-lasting results
  • Little to no downtime
  • Results that appear after just one treatment

How Does Avéli Work?

Before the procedure begins, a local anesthetic is injected into the treatment area to ensure you’re comfortable. This procedure will be performed in either the clinic or the operating room.

After creating a small, well-concealed incision, Dr. Shermak will move the Avéli device beneath the skin to detect and cut the connective tissue cellulite bands. The device has a lighted tip that allows her to see and target the individual bands of septae and to verify that the targeted dimples have been effectively smoothed.

Dr. Shermak will release each of the septae in the buttock or thigh dimples, sometimes as many as 20. When she has verified that she has released every individual septa strand causing the targeted dimples in that area, the procedure will be complete.

A small bandage and compression girdle will be placed, to ensure your ideal results. Your procedure will take about one hour, depending on the number of dimples being treated. Initial results will be visible immediately, but final results will take longer to appear.

Your Recovery and Results after an Avéli Treatment

You can expect swelling and bruising in the targeted area once your treatment is complete, which will fade over the first week, then continue to decrease in the following weeks. You’ll be able to return to most of your usual activities by the next day but will need to leave your bandages on for at least 48 hours, and wait for one to two weeks before you return to strenuous activity or exercise.

In most cases, only a single treatment is needed to achieve the desired results. Your final results will be apparent in about three months. In clinical studies, 80% of patients were either much improved or very much improved after their Avéli treatment.
