I often see individuals who have undergone plastic surgery treatment elsewhere, dissatisfied with their results and looking for a solution, a revision to make things right. Scenarios include people who have tried “minimally invasive” fat reduction treatments (like laser lipo) that left poor contours and scarring or (like Coolsculpting) that had underwhelming or lumpy results; irregular and asymmetrical results after tummy tuck; adhesive scars resulting from complicated healing after body lifts leading to aesthetic and functional difficulties. Marketing of surgical tourism to Miami or out of the country and a multitude of non board-certified plastic surgeons performing surgery out of their scope present attractive yet dangerous options. These are the source of most of the issues I see. Presentations after complications can be really dramatic with lots of emotional despair associated with an outcome that did not meet expectations, including the money spent, the unexpected downtime, and the feelings of abandonment some communicate.  Getting fixed is really important to closing the circle of despair.

The great news is that oftentimes poor outcomes can transform into excellent results. Sometimes it is necessary to wait for scar tissue to soften and mature. Sometimes treatment may require several stages. Scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon (like yours truly!) who is accessible is the best place to start in addressing unsatisfactory outcomes. At the time of consultation, the best approach can be determined, and navigating how to best get to the goal will occur. I love a great success story, and it has been so rewarding to be able to bring a smile back to someone who may have nearly given up. A solution is not out of reach!
