Many people I see who are interested in discussing plastic surgery come in to address not just one procedure or body region but multiple. Scenarios include women interested in a Facelift, Neck lift, and Eyelid Surgery who would also like to address sagging skin in the arms or legs; women who are finished having children and want to improve breast perkiness with a Breast lift or Breast Augmentation and improve abdominal skin and muscle tautness with a Tummy Tuck; men who desire contouring of their chest, abdomen and back with Liposuction; and individuals who have experienced significant weight loss who might want to discuss lifting and skin reduction from the neck down, or a subset of that.
As long as the individual is healthy, performing surgery on multiple body regions is a terrific idea! The efficiency in recovery, cost, and “getting it all done” in one setting is so appealing. Everyone is busy, so condensing a plastic surgery treatment to one surgery is a saver of both time and money. Certainly, there are time limits for safe surgery or procedures that counteract each other, and these vary depending on the patient and the surgeries to be performed. As an example, breast and abdominal surgery are a great combination; abdomen and back contouring are highly complementary; however, upper and lower back lift procedures limit each other and are best not performed together.
Some patients do better with a single focused surgery for personal reasons related to health, the duration of recovery anticipated, and the assistance they may need related to their responsibilities. Some just want one area addressed, like those who undergo a Breast Augmentation or Labiaplasty.
The benefit of seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon is my comprehensive “toolbelt” and ability to individualize treatment plans according to a strong track record. Is it finally your time to coordinate your personal plan?
